Designing a Hybrid Nightlife Experience

Overview:

CrimePartner is a curated nightlife event that combines elements of cosplay, performance, and social interaction into a unified experience.

The project focuses on designing how people move, interact, and engage within a shared physical space.

Problem:

Traditional nightlife and themed fan events operate very differently.
    •    Nightlife is fast-paced, open, and socially dynamic
    •    Fan events are structured, segmented, and interaction-heavy

When combined, these formats often feel disconnected or awkward.

The challenge was to create a cohesive experience that supports different types of participation within the same space.

My Role:
Creative Director & Organizer

• Led overall concept and experience design

• Designed spatial layout and interaction flow

• Directed visual identity and promotional materials

• Coordinated vendors, performers, and on-site execution

Approach:
Spatial Design

The venue layout was designed to support multiple interaction modes simultaneously.
• Open areas for free movement and observation

• Shared zones for casual interaction

• Central stage for high-energy participation

The goal was to guide behavior through layout rather than instructions.
Interaction Design

Activities were structured to accommodate different comfort levels:
    •    NPC-led mini games for low-pressure engagement
    •    Stage-based group activities to increase participation
    •    Free-flow areas for organic social interaction

This allowed participants to gradually move from passive to active engagement.

Outcome:

• 250+ attendees across the initial event

• Strong reception led to multiple iterations (2.0, 3.0)

• Participants clustered in low-pressure zones at the beginning of the event

• Increased participation in stage and game activities as the night progressed

• Continuous circulation between zones rather than fixed positioning

Further Events:

Following the initial launch, CrimePartner expanded into multiple iterations (2.0, 3.0), reaching over 1000+ participants in total.

The project developed a stable and returning audience, demonstrating strong engagement beyond a single event.

The brand was further extended through new formats, including themed game nights, new year special and additional interactive programming.

CrimePartner evolved into a scalable experience model, adaptable across different formats and audiences.
